About this policy
This policy explains how Monty's Sandwich Shop ("we", "us" or "our") handles personal information. We're a sandwich shop at 52 Spring Street, Bondi Junction NSW 2022.
It covers this website, our online shop at order.montyssandwichshop.com.au, card payments in our shop, and the times you call, message or email us.
We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
What we ask for, and why
Online orders
Our online shop runs on Square. When you order, we receive your name, your contact details, what you ordered and your pickup time. We use them to make your order, have it ready when you arrive and contact you if something changes.
Square processes your payment, and we don't see your full card number. Square handles your payment details under its own privacy notice.
When you pay by card in our shop, or ask for a digital receipt, Square handles those details in the same way.
Catering quote requests
Our catering quote form is built with Elementor, the website builder we use. It asks for your name, email and phone number, and your company if you have one. It also asks what the order is for, the date, the number of people, the suburb and anything else you'd like us to know. The form sends these details to our email so we can prepare your quote, and emails you a summary of your request.
If you tell us about allergies or dietary needs, that can be health information. We use it only to prepare your order, and only the people who make your order see it. By including it, you agree to us using it this way.
Calls, messages and the contact form
When you call, text, WhatsApp, email or message us on social media, or use the contact form on this website, we keep what you send so we can reply and follow up.
WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook are run by Meta. Messages you send us there are also handled under Meta's privacy policy.
Visits to this website
When you visit this website, we and the tools we use receive technical information. This includes your browser, your device, your approximate location, the pages you view and the site that sent you here. Our website host also keeps basic server logs, including IP addresses, to keep the site secure.
Google Analytics and the Meta Pixel
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how people use our website. It shows us which pages they visit, how they found us, and whether they tap Order online, call, WhatsApp or email us. Google Analytics uses cookies and gives us reports about groups of visitors. It doesn't tell us who you are.
We use the Meta Pixel to measure our ads on Facebook and Instagram. It tells Meta when someone visits our site, taps Order online or sends a quote request, so we can see which ads work. Meta may use this to show our ads to people who have visited our site.
We don't send your name, email or phone number to Google Analytics or to Meta.
Google Analytics and the Meta Pixel can also run on our online shop at order.montyssandwichshop.com.au, where Square uses its own cookies too.
Google and Meta may process this information in the United States and other countries. Their own privacy policies explain how they use it.
Cookies and your choices
Cookies are small files that a website stores in your browser. We use three kinds. Essential cookies keep the site working and remember your cookie choice. Analytics cookies come from Google Analytics and have names that start with _ga. Marketing cookies come from the Meta Pixel, such as the _fbp cookie.
Some pages also show content from Google, such as the map on our contact page. Google may set its own cookies when that content loads.
Visitors from the EEA, the UK and Switzerland
If you visit from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, a banner asks for your choice before any analytics or marketing cookies are used. You can accept all, reject the ones we don't need, or choose by category.
We use Google Consent Mode v2 to pass your choice to Google's tools, and the Meta Pixel only runs if you accept marketing cookies. You can change your choice at any time with the Cookie settings link at the bottom of each page.
Visitors from Australia and everywhere else
If you visit from anywhere else, including Australia, analytics and marketing cookies are on when the page loads. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. You can also turn off ad personalisation in your Facebook and Instagram settings, and install Google's opt-out browser add-on to stop Google Analytics measuring your visits.
Who we share it with
We share personal information only with businesses that help us run our shop, website and marketing, and only so they can do that work. They include Square for orders and payments, Google for analytics and maps, and Meta for ads and messages. They also include the companies that host our website and email, and the agency that helps with our website and marketing.
If you order through a delivery app, the app handles your details under its own privacy policy and passes us what we need to make your order.
We may also share information when the law requires it, or to protect someone's safety. We don't sell personal information.
Information stored outside Australia
Some of these providers store or process information outside Australia, including in the United States. We use established providers that publish how they protect personal information.
Keeping it safe
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference and loss, and from unauthorised access, change or disclosure. Only the people who need it to do their job can see it.
We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the reasons in this policy, or as long as the law requires. After that, we delete it or remove the details that identify you.
If a data breach is likely to result in serious harm to you, we'll tell you and, where the law requires, the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
Staying anonymous
You can browse our website and ask us general questions without telling us who you are. To order or get a quote, we need your name and a way to contact you.
Marketing
We use your contact details to deal with your order, quote or message. We only send marketing emails to people who have agreed to get them, and every marketing email lets you opt out.
Seeing and correcting your information
You can ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it. Email info.montys@gmail.com or call 0474 507 747. We may need to check who you are first.
There's no charge to make a request. We'll respond within a reasonable time. If we can't give you access or make a change, we'll tell you why in writing, unless the law says we can't.
Complaints
If you think we've mishandled your personal information, contact us first and tell us what happened. We'll look into it and reply in writing within a reasonable time.
If you're not happy with our reply, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at www.oaic.gov.au.
Other websites
Our website links to services run by others, such as Square, Google Maps, Instagram and Facebook. Their own privacy policies apply when you use them.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when our tools or the law change. The date at the top of this page shows when it last changed.
