How many sandwiches per person for a catered lunch?
One sandwich or salad per person. That’s the rule we work to, and it’s written into the name of every platter in our online shop.
The platter for 10 is called Catering Platter, 10 Sandwiches or Salads (Feeds 10). The number of people and the number of sandwiches or salads always match. A salad counts as one, the same as a sandwich.
A team of 10 gets 10 sandwiches or salads, which is 20 halves on the table. A team of 20 gets 20, or 40 halves. Nobody has to work out a ratio, and nobody has to guess.
Why adult platters come cut in halves
Adult platters come cut in halves, and that’s what makes one per person work on a shared table. Nobody waits for a knife.
Halves also let people try two fillings, swap with the person next to them, or come back for the second half after the meeting.
Choose any fillings from the menu. A platter for 10 could mix a Chicken & Pancetta Sandwich, a Turkey & Brie Sandwich with Cranberry, a Coronation Chicken Sandwich and a Pastrami Reuben Sandwich.

Catering for 20 people or fewer
Up to 20 people, order online. Pick the smallest platter that covers everyone. So 12 people means the platter for 15, and 18 people means the platter for 20.
Count heads before you count sandwiches. Add up the people who’ve said yes, anyone joining from outside, like a client or a speaker, and the regulars who never reply but always turn up.
Say it’s lunch for 18 on Thursday. That’s the platter for 20, at $284.00 or $14.20 per person.
Order by 4pm the day before, which makes it a Wednesday order, and choose a Thursday pickup time at checkout. The two spare sandwiches are for whoever turns up late.

Catering for 30 or 40 people
25 or more, get a quote. The rule doesn’t change, so 30 people means 30 sandwiches or salads, the same as two platters for 15. Get a quote and we’ll plan the platters, the fillings and the timing with you.

How much does catering cost per person?
At Monty’s, adult platters cost $14.20 to $14.50 per person, and Kids platters cost $9.12 to $10.00 per child. For adults, the price per person drops a little as the platter grows.
That’s $14.50 per person for 10, $14.33 for 15 and $14.20 for 20. You pay online when you order and pick up in store. For 25 or more, the price comes with your quote.
If finance asks what lunch costs per person, that’s the number to give them.

When should you order more than one per person?
When lunch has to carry people through a long day, or the group eats more than most. That’s our suggestion, not a shop rule. The platter name stays the rule, one per person, and you know your team better than we do.
You’ll see some catering guides plan one and a half sandwiches per person. Ours are sized one each, cut in halves, so if your group eats more than most, go up a platter size rather than doubling the order.
We’d go up a platter size in three cases.
- A workshop or training day, where lunch is the only food on the table.
- A crew that’s been on its feet all morning, like a site team or a squad back from training.
- A headcount that could still grow by a few.
Going up a size from 20 takes you to 25 or more, so that one’s a quote.
On a long day, you don’t have to put everything out at once. Serve half at lunch and keep the rest in the fridge for the afternoon. Food Standards Australia New Zealand says cold food should be kept at 5°C or colder.

The minimum is a platter for 10, and you order by 4pm the day before. Platters need 15 hours, so they can’t be made same day.

Platters start at 10. For a smaller group, order sandwiches online from our online shop. They’re made on bread baked here this morning and ready from 15 minutes after you order. You can check every filling on the menu first.
How far in advance to order catering
Order by 4pm the day before at the latest. Choose your pickup time at checkout, then pick up from 52 Spring Street, Bondi Junction. Pay online, pick up in store, so there’s nothing to sort out at the counter.
Planning further out? Lock in the headcount and the fillings early, then place the order before the cutoff.
How many sandwiches per child for a kids party?
One per child, the same rule. Kids platters come in seven sizes, from 10 to 40, and you can order all of them online. They’re cut in quarters, with ham and cheese, cheese and tomato, double cheese, egg salad and chicken salad. Nothing spicy.
